FCA Consumer Duty Dear CEO letter – protection & GI

Pen.

We encourage firms that advise on protection and/or GI products to read the FCA’s Consumer Duty Dear CEO letter. Click here to access.

Whilst this letter is aimed at both insurers and intermediary firms, there are messages relevant to mortgage intermediary firms distributing these types of products.

The Consumer Duty goes wider than the enhanced product governance requirements that came into effect in this area of the market in 2021 and therefore even if firms believe they are meeting requirements set out in PROD 4, they should still include GI and protection products and services in scope of their wider Consumer Duty work.

Please see AMI’s dedicated GI and protection Consumer Duty factsheet for guidance.
