RICS issues consumer guide to spray foam insulation

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has published a comprehensive consumer-facing guide on the use of spray foam to insulate residential properties. The move comes after alarms were raised by Trading Standards on cases of poor workmanship, unauthorised alterations to listed properties and high-pressure sales tactics – particularly amongst the vulnerable. Spray foam has also been causing problems in the mortgage market where it has a detrimental impact on valuations.

RICS hopes the guide will serve to educate the public and raise awareness of the risks and implications for consumers. You can access it here.
