Risks to employers of allowing remote workers to work abroad

Following the increase in remote working arrangements spurred on by the pandemic, some employers have been met with requests from UK-based staff to permit them to move abroad and continue their employment in the UK, or else work from another country for part of the year or on a temporary basis.

Firms are advised to consider carefully the tax and legal implications before granting such requests, and to seek advice from a suitably qualified specialist if in doubt.
