Your June 2025 mortgage & regulatory update

Our monthly round up of the latest mortgage business and regulatory updates

FCA issues update on common tactics used by criminals

The FCA recently issued a consumer facing communication on common fraudulent tactics that prey on customers struggling to pay their mortgage. Mortgage intermediaries should read this update to ensure they are aware of the different tactics and to help provide support/signposting should a customer contact them.

FCA removes further regulatory returns

The FCA is proposing to:

  • Decommission REP022 (General Insurance Pricing Attestation).
  • Remove the requirement to submit nil returns for REP008 (Notification of Disciplinary Action relating to conduct rules staff – other than SMF managers).

AMI is supportive of these proposals.

During the consultation process firms will still see the returns (where applicable) in RegData, however the FCA will not chase firms that fail to submit these, and firms can choose not to submit them. The FCA will not expect firms to submit REP008 unless they have a breach to declare. The FCA will also waive the associated late return administrative fee.

Mortgage Industry Mental Health survey

Mental Health in Focus: MIMHC Launches 5th Annual Industry Wellbeing Survey

Mental health remains a pressing issue facing our sector. The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) recently launched its fifth annual Mental Health and Wellbeing Survey.

Running until the 4th of July 2025, the survey invites views from all corners of the mortgage and financial services world, from advisers and BDMs to underwriters, executives, and support teams, to share their real-world experiences of workplace pressure, mental wellbeing, and industry culture.

Why This Survey Matters

Year after year, the survey, which is anonymous, has shed light on the challenges faced by those in the industry. The results have not only shaped internal wellbeing strategies but also ignited more open, honest conversations about mental health.

The survey is an opportunity to speak up safely and help drive the sector forwards.

Jason Berry, Co-Founder of MIMHC, Group Sales Director at Crystal Specialist Finance and AMI board member said:

“We know that many in our sector continue to work long hours under intense pressure. This survey gives everyone – regardless of role or seniority – a safe space to express how they’re really feeling. Our industry is only as strong as its people, and the data we gather will be invaluable in shaping a more compassionate, productive environment for all.”

How to Take Part

The survey is quick, taking less than five minutes to complete, and completely anonymous. Whether you’re feeling the strain or simply want to contribute to better mental health practices in the industry, your input can make a difference.

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Survey 2025 – Have your say before the 4th of July.

FCA to launch new Handbook website

The FCA plans to launch a beta version of its new and improved Handbook website. It is still undergoing testing and improvement, however once finalised it should be easier to:

  • Navigate and find the information you need;
  • Understand the connections between our rules;
  • Compare different versions of Handbook text to see what’s been added or deleted over time.

The FCA expects the new Handbook website will be rolled out later this year. Click here for more information.

New features for My FCA

From July 2025, the My FCA task list will expand to include all finance tasks from the Online Invoicing Systems (OIS), including paying invoices and accessing credit balances. Clicking a task will take you directly to OIS, eliminating the need for a separate login.

This will be followed by a further update providing direct access from the My FCA task list to the relevant finance document in OIS.

My FCA launch

The FCA has today launched a new portal for registered and authorised firms called My FCA.

Once signed in (using existing sign-in credentials), firms will be able to see scheduled regulatory reporting and attestation tasks in one place. The aim is to reduce the burden of regulatory reporting.

My FCA also provides information and updates, gathered from Connect, RegData and the Online Invoicing System, as well as recently published regulatory updates.

Firms are encouraged to add My FCA (https://myfca.fca.org.uk) – to their allowed list of trusted website addresses.
